Trinket use macro

Trinket use macro DEFAULT
I use a trinket popping macro....

This macro I can then place on my bar and add to other macros to autopop my trinkets when needed...

Code:

#showtooltip shadow bolt /petattack /click [mod:alt] MultiBarRightButton1 /cast [mod:alt] Shadow Bolt /cast [nomod] Shadow Bolt
So I have the trinket popper on my button bar that pops my trinkets and I can cast shadowbot as normal, but press alt to cast shadowbolt AND pop my trinkets as well.

What I also do is have my trinkets on my bar, so I can click on them individually if needed and also I can glance at them to see their cooldowns.

The annoying thing is that every time I get a new trinket I need to drag it to the button bar. As if you have a equipped trinket on your button bar and then replace that trinket the one on the button bar just gose darker shade and becomes in active. I need to remember to drag the new trinkets to the bar.

What I was wondering... is there a a way to use #tooltip or something in a maco or something so it will show the icon of what ever is equipped in the trinket slot?

(communication is not my strong suit.. I hope that made sense)

What exactly is the macro? I don't think the functionality for trinkets has ever been changed.

/use 13 or /cast 13 is the first trinket slot, change it to 14 for the second trinket.

What if I want spring synapses macroed in a skill, what would it be?

This also works:

/use trinket-name-goes-here

/use 10

Or.

/use gloves-name-goes-here

/use 10
/cast skill

You can get fancier and disable the error text/sound before you try to /use 10 if you want to avoid errors when it's on cooldown.

Well, there is one case where I know it can fail. If you do:

/cast <something that's not an instant>
/use 13
/use 14

then you'll be in the middle of that castbar when the trinkets try to fire. Gotta put the trinket ahead of anything with a cast time.

Does the trinket have a usable ability. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the /use command, so most likely it's some user error.

hmm this is what I have ill have to take another look thank you

Trinket should go first anyway so that it's in effect for the cast.

/use 10
This will use your hand slots (like Synapse springs)

/use 13
This will use your top trinket

/use 14
This will use your bottom trinket

This thread is from 2013.....

#showtooltip Raging Blow
/cast Raging Blow
/use Emissary's Watch
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Can someone please explain to me why this isn't working.

Change /use Emissary's Watch to /use 13 or /use 14 depending on what slot it in currently equipped.

what about shuffle the dark moon deck of 13 and 14? Is there a major like "use"?

Can anyone help with a macro? All I would like to do is have one
hotkey that kicks off one trinket on the first press, and the other
trinket on the second press.
/use 13
/use 12
(or whatever the trinket slot numbers are I can't remember nor can
I look them up at the moment).
This macro doesn't work how I want it because as I understand it,
the entire thing is submitted to the server so the second line
fails due to the GCD.
I have also come across more complex macros involving the /script
command. These have also not worked due to the fact that a message
to the effect of "this action must be performed by the UI" which
leads me to believe that Bliz may have tightened up the macro rules
at some point in time.
Can anyone help? All I want is for this to perform somewhat like
the /castsequence command. Or maybe I can use /castsequence I am
just not sure.
thanks

That should work. The first time you run the macro, the first trinket
will activate, triggering a CD of some sort on the 2nd trinket and
preventing it from being used. The next time you press the button,
your first trinket will be on CD, so nothing will happen, and provided
your 2nd trinket isn't on cooldown, should trigger it.

I don't know what trinkets you are trying to use though. The 2
trinkets I use are Scryer's Bloodgem and whatever the name of the one
from revered Sha'tar rep is. They're both similar in that tey boost
spell damage when used. One (the Bloodgem I think) also has +spell
hit, while the other has +spell crit.

I have macros set up for the base of my DPS spells. Each one of them,
when cast, attempts to use one of my trinkets, and the syntax I use is
similar to what you have posted here. When I use one trinket, it
triggers a cooldown on my second trinket, but not the fill 2 min or
whatever it is cooldown. Its a 30 second cooldown, most likely meant
to prevent you from stacking damage buffs from trinkets. After that
30 seconds is up, the next time I cast a spell that has my trinkets
macroed into it, it will activate my second trinket.

As for /castsequence, I don't know if it will work with trinkets or
items. I know /cast and /use are actually interchangeable, so it
might work, but I never tried it. In any case, you don't need it.

Name: Holy Light

Once again, the macro is named the move that I want to mainly use, and I wont forget when I give it a quick look during combat.

I'm using "#showtooltip" to show me what I'm using. At first, when my trinket isn't used, it will show me the tooltip for the trinket "Core of Ripeness", since it can be used. If you want, you can choose which tooltip you want the macro to show. For this example, I want it to always show "Holy Light", instead of showing "Avenging Wrath" at all, so, I change the first line from "#showtooltip" to "#show Holy Light". It would look like this:

The second line uses my trinket "Core of Ripeness". Now, "use" has different functions in World of Warcraft.

1. It can use the "use" function of an item and 2. it can equip an item. This may be good if your trinket is always in that slot. But if you're always switching out trinkets and using them for different fights, then this macro isn't as effective. To make maximum use of this macro you will have to make sure that your "use" trinket is in the same item slot. This is because all items on your character has a slot number. For example, your Weapons, offhand and mainhand, have the slot numbers of 17 and 16, and your relic, wand, or ranged weapon slot number is 18. For this example, I put my use trinkets in the bottom slot, which is slot number 14. To make this macro work for all the "use" trinkets I have for the different fights and situations I would write:

For even more effectiveness, just in case you don't remember which slot your "use" trinket is in:

This will use both slots, but only your usable trinket is usable, so, the macro will use it. If you have two "use" trinkets, the macro will use whatever is in slot 13 (the top trinket), the other trinket will have a 20 second cool down. If you're spamming this macro then there will be no problem in getting full use of both of the "use" trinkets.

Tip: This is a great way to spam "use" trinkets to get the maximum effectiveness, especially for healers. For caster damage dealers, this may not be a good macro because you may want to use your trinkets at the most opportune time. We'll go over DPS macros soon!
