Legendary pokemon spawn very rarely, and in their own specific biomes. As of the latest update, the rarest legendary to find is Mewtwo, with a spawn rate of 1/10000. Here is a list of the biomes in which the legendaries spawn as of 3.0.0:

  • Articuno: Frozen Shrine found in extreme winter hills biome
  • Zapdos: Static Shrine Found in Savanna Plateau, Savanna M, and Savanna Plateau M Biome
  • Moltres: Fiery shrine found in Mesa Plateau biome
  • Mew: Jungle Trees
  • MewTwo: Cloning Machine
  • Rayquaza: Plains
  • Groudon: Desert and Plains
  • kyogre: Ocean
  • Entei: Extreme hills/ Extreme hills M
  • Raikou: Savanna/Plains
  • Suicune: Beach/Ice Plains Spike/ Cold beach
  • Celebi: Flower Forest

An awesome feature of Pixelmon is that, unlike the actual Pokemon game, legendaries spawn more than once, so you can finally have that all-Mewtwo team you’ve always wanted.

Also, you can spawn in legendaries with the /pokespawn command.

Capturing Legendaries

As legendaries are increasingly hard to catch by order of rarity, it is recommended that you use Master balls or Park Balls as they never fail to catch these powerful Pokemon and any other. If you have no Master Balls on you, then it is recommended that you fight the legendary Pokemon in order to weaken them, and then use several Ultra Balls to try to capture them. It is not recommended that you use any type of Pokeball other than Master Balls, Ultra Balls and if it’s night Dusk Ballsto catch legendary Pokemon. But, be warned that legendaries do fight back, so be careful when taking the Ultra Ball path, but you can always go for night time catching so you are able to fully utilize both the Ultra Ball and Dusk Ball. For catching a Mew, you may want to use this strategy.

Throw Nest Balls at a Mew while outside of battle. But then you will have to stand on it, recommended that you create a small room so it may not fly while you desperately try to stand on it. You will catch it within 1-10 Nest Balls .

Legendary Pokémon are Pokémon that are characterized by their rarity and their high base stat totals. They are very difficult to obtain because of their difficulty to locate, high levels, and low catch rates. They are also guaranteed to have a minimum of 3 perfect IVs when captured or spawned in.

Don't confuse the term Legendary Pokémon with Ultra Beasts

A Legendary Pokémon has a chance of spawning every 22 minutes. This chance of spawning depends on multiple factors, including whether Legendary Pokémon can spawn in the different biomes and spawn locations, whether the spawn positions are close enough to players, the amount of terrain that is compatible for a Legendary Pokémon's spawn location, and a base percentage of the Legendary Pokémon spawn attempt succeeding (45%).

A message will be broadcast when one of them spawns.

Opgeloste problemen:

  • Bepaalde items konden eerder niet op wilde spawns verschijnen vanwege een restrictie in het held items-systeem. Dit is nu opgelost.
  • Mok-recepten maken nu de juiste mok.
  • Onzichtbare Pokémon laten nu geen particles meer zien.
  • Flapple creërt nu Applin in een Ranch Block, in plaats van meer Flapples.
  • Generatie 8 werkt nu ook zoals verwacht in Ranch Blocks.
  • Chat-NPCs laten niet langer hun tekst zien op andere NPCs.
  • Pokemon#increaseFriendship houdt nu rekening met de Soothe Bell.
  • Het effect van Thunder Stone Armor blijft niet langer hangen wanneer delen van de set uitgetrokken worden.
  • Items blijven niet langer in de wol van ongeschoren Mareep/Wooloo/Dubwool hangen bij rechter muis-klik.
  • De Ground Gym-uitgang werkt weer.
  • Een mogelijke dupe bij held items bestaat niet meer.
  • Mint-buffs blijven nu intact bij level-up en gebruik van Rare Candy.
  • Pokéspecs kunnen nu beter omgaan met geslachtsvormen. Dit lost onder andere het probleem op waar /pokegive niet altijd de juiste sprite geeft.
  • Pokémon Editors zorgen niet langer voor een crash.
  • Een lading oude code van voor het IEnumForm-tijdperk is nu verwijderd. Dit lost een aantal problemen op met speciale vormen die hun vorm kwijt raken.
  • Standbeelden gaan nu ook beter om met geslachtsvormen. Dit zorgt er onder andere voor dat Magikarp's Jump-vormen nu werken.
  • Electrode en Voltorb konden een ClassCastException-fout veroorzaken wanneer ze als standbeeld of via een Ranch Block in de wereld geplaatst werden.
  • De Fishing Log werkte soms niet goed op servers.
  • Dream Balls werken weer.
  • Shiny Charm was niet verkrijgbaar.
  • De kleine TV had een extra pixel in de sprite.
  • De Pokédex kon blijven hangen op 95%.
  • Spel-talen anders dan US English konden ervoor zorgen dat er custom NPCs geen tekstbox lieten zien voor de naam/textuur.
  • Vormen met een lage streep werkten niet in de form-spec.
  • Curry tooltips werken weer.
  • Bepaalde kleurmiddelen konden een crash veroorzaken wanneer ze op stoelen gebruikt werden.
  • Spawn-informatie in de Pokédex wordt nu correct vertaald.
Opgeloste gevechtsproblemen:
  • Bepaalde acties in de gevechtsinterface konden blijven hangen bij te snel klikken.
  • Inverse Battles negeren niet langer dubbele types.
  • ...en ze werken nu.
  • Corrosion veroorzaakt nu normale effectiviteit tegen Steel-type Pokémon voor aanvallen die niet van het Poison-type zijn.
  • Corrosion kan nu Poison veroorzaken op Poison-type Pokémon.
  • Bide kan niet langer een Pokémon K.O.-en wanneer deze Pokémon niet meer actief aan het gevecht deel neemt.
  • Bide heeft nu de juiste schade-berekening. (status-probleem)
  • Bide negeert Protect niet meer.
  • Steam Engine creërt geen enorme hoeveelheid speed particles meer.
  • Burn Up verwijdert nu het Fire-type van de gebruiker.
  • No Retreat past niet langer No-Escape toe op de vijand, en heeft nu doelwitten gedefineërd.
  • Eject Button en Throat Spray werken nu goed samen.
  • De isAlreadyInBattle-check is niet langer over te slaan. Dit lost een dupe op.
  • Chip Away, Sacred Sword en de Unaware-vaardigheid negeren nu de evasion-waarde.
  • Z-Growth gebruikt nu het juiste kristal.
  • Sommige aanvallen gebruiken nu correct de accuracy-waarde.
  • OHKO-aanvallen kunnen geen doelwitten van een hoger level meer raken wanneer No Guard, Lock-On of bepaalde andere moves actief zijn.
  • NPC-gevechten waarin vastgehouden items van een Pokémon afgehaald worden updaten nu de stats van deze Pokémon. Ook verdwijnen bepaalde moves niet meer.
  • Mega Stones kunnen niet langer van een Pokémon afgehaald worden wanneer deze Pokémon al Mega is.
  • Wanneer een Pokémon flinched is word er geen confusion-check meer uitgevoerd.
  • Pokémon die een tijdelijk vorm geruiken tijdens gevechten onthouden nu hun speciale vorm voor na het gevecht, wanneer van toepassing.
  • Zen Mode kan niet langer een Pokémon raken die K.O. is.
  • Stuff Cheeks werkt nu zoals bedoeld.
Opgeloste Ranch-problemen:
  • Eieren konden gewist worden als een Ranch Block na het inladen actief werd voor de eerste refresh-tick.
  • Ranch Blocks lieten soms eieren niet zien wanneer ze ontladen werden en vervolgens weer geladen werden.
  • Hourglass-items zijn niet langer bruikbaar wanneer er al een ei is.
  • Hourglass-items zijn niet langer bruikbaar op combinaties van Pokémon die geen ei kunnen krijgen.
  • canBreed werkt nu zoals verwacht wanneer er voor compatibiliteit gecheckt word.
  • TileEntityRanchBlock.canBreed() is nu toegevoegd, met bijpassende Javadoc.
  • Pokémon kunnen niet langer verliefd worden wanneer ze samen geen ei kunnen krijgen.

Wijzigingen voor ontwikkelaars:

  • De Ilex Shrine heeft nu een annuleerbare event, en staat het toe om de gespawnde Pokémon aan te passen.
  • Pokemon#getNature laat nu de actieve nature zien, dus van een Mint waar toepasselijk. Pokemon#getNature(boolean) is verouderd, met Pokemon#getBaseNature als de nieuwe vervanging. Wees voorzichtig met het gebruik van getBaseNature voor taken als breeding en data-export. Dit lost het probleem op waar Mint-natures genegeerd worden wanneer stats updaten, zoals bij level-up.
  • BlockPokeChest stuurt niet langer een bericht wanneer de event geannuleerd is.
  • ShopkeeperEvent bevat nu de shopkeeper-NPC.
  • Nieuwe API-functie: WarpPlateEvent
  • De DialogueInput API is toegevoegd, en staat toe om simpel tekst in te voeren via een GUI.
  • Ondersteuning voor eieren in het sprite NBT formaat.

  • Fixed a bug where setting your number of PC boxes to 256 caused PCs to not open.

  • Added Arceus event, the Azure Flute, and the 'Arc Chalice'. Use all the Plates on the chalice to get the Azure Flute, then use the Azure flute near the Timespace Altar. Then battle God.

  • Added Ho-oh and Lugia event. Get a whole bunch of Clear Bells or Tidal Bells, hang 'em up together, and if they start ringing at dawn, come back at dusk later that day. Get ready to fight a legendary.

  • Added Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. DNA Splicers are carried by wild Kyurem when you catch them! Use them on Kyurem with Reshiram/Zekrom in your party. The transformation effect is awesome.

  • Added transformation effects for Hoopa and Shaymin too since we were in the neighbourhood and we saw the lights on.

  • Added Mega Rayquaza. Find some move tutors to teach it Dragon Ascent. Or cheat.

    • 3 new blocks have been added: - Washing Machine, Fan and Mower, each of them having their own crafing recipies. Check the wiki for them.
    • Each Rotom learns a special move upon fusing with a machine: Hydro Pump, Overheat, Air Slash, Blizzard and Leaf Storm.
    • Rotom changes back to normal form if thrown at an item that's the same as its current form. This removes the special move.
  • Added Megas for the following pokemon: Ampharos, Banette, Gyarados, Kangaskhan, Lucario, Sharpedo and Salamence.

  • Added Pokérus. Now your Pokémon can get infected! (... What? No I think it sounds fine, leave it in.)

  • Added Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus Therian forms. Use a Reveal Glass on them to change their forms.

  • Fully removed the deprecated database Pokémon storage.

  • Migrated Grass, Cave Rock & Rock Smash to Better Spawner for way more configuration. (Headbutt & Sweet Scent are there too!)

  • /pokeheal now requires "pixelmon.command.admin.healother" permission to heal other players.

  • Gracidea now grow like normal flowers.

  • Healing a party from an NPC is 50% faster now. It was meant to be like this forever but it's been bugged this whole time!

  • The growths of the statue editor are now ordered by their scale so if you have OCD you'll no longer be bleeding from the eyes.

  • Removed the fire particle effects from Charizard since we pretty much have animated fire on him anyway.

  • Pixelmon Grass can now be placed on earthy and sandy blocks.


  • Fixed a hacking vulnerability with NPC trading.

  • Fixed dodgy hitboxes on Apricorn trees and berry trees so you don't get angry every time you walk through a garden.

  • Fixed /checkspawns in a big way.

  • Fixed players being able to trade away their last hatched Pokémon and therefore only have an egg left.

  • Fixed instant dismounting of chairs when mounting while sneaking.

  • Fixed Hidden Grottoes not generating in some forest biomes, both normal and especially from Biomes O' Plenty.

  • Fixed a random player being disconnected if a player captures a Pokémon then disconnects.

  • Fixed NPC editing attacks not prioritizing your language for move names.

  • Fixed the wiki key opening up a wiki page for air whenever your hand is empty.

  • Fixed Spewpa evolving into Pokéball Vivillon when evolving in forests and forest hills biomes.

  • Fixed fishing not working when the hook is near the edge of water. You still need deep water for bigger fish though.

  • Fixed things like Nosepass not evolving if they levelled up while not sent out.

  • Fixed the Lure Ball advancement. We definitely didn't forget all about it. This was almost certainly Gabe's fault.

  • Fixed all those Pokédex completion advancements not working. No one told us about this! What the heck!

  • Fixed maxLevel, afkHandlerOn/afkTimerActivateSeconds, riding speed multiplier config options not working on servers.

  • Fixed Pokémon causing item frames to pop off.

  • Fixed Pokémon bounding boxes being solid and not pushable like other mobs.
