Taylor-Made Wish Come True

What a year it has been for Taylor Made Farms, LLC! Despite working around a very wet spring, they completed a gazebo, a barn, a roofed pavilion and dance floor, and a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom farmhouse! Located in a beautiful country setting in Bomont, it is the perfect location for weddings, reunions, get-togethers, meetings and weekend getaways. Now that their 2019 wedding season is completed, they are a wonderful fall destination with numerous events including the Fall Harvest Market, Sip and Paint, and Haunted Barn. Even more, they are kicking off a new ATV Trail by next Memorial Day!

Tammy and Steve Taylor, owners, have a variety of packages for events and they are now accepting bookings for 2020. Guests can rent the farm Friday through Sunday for $1800 or rent what they want separately to create their perfect destination event. Their newest is the Elopement or Small Wedding Package costing $600. This event includes pre-wedding (dressing, hair, makeup, etc.) access in the farmhouse, a 2-tier cake, photos up to 75 images, and a buffet for up to 25 people for 4 hours. Taylor Made Farms also has a complete array of silk flowers and decorations that can be rented for events. There is a turn-key wedding package for $8500 including photos, hair and makeup, bouquets, decorations, banquet, and the farmhouse from Wednesday through Sunday. “Everything except the bride, the dress, and the groom!, “ she said.

Tammy said many of their guests bring their own ATVs, horses, etc. so that they can enjoy the trails during their stay at the farm. Weekend guests have access to the farm for the weekend which includes the firepit, hiking trails, ATV trails, and there is also kayaking nearby. Taylor Made Farms has a family reunion package from 8 am to 8 pm which includes the pavilion and the gazebo for $350. The farmhouse can be rented as well if desired.

“The barn has several seating options available, including pews, benches, or table and chairs and can seat 125 guests. There is a 12 x 12 gazebo where the band or DJ normally sets up, a 30 x 30 dance floor and a 24 x 24 roofed pavilion,” Tammy mentioned. The food is set up in the pavilion and includes a cake table, old whisky barrels for the drink stations, toasting goblets, cake plate and knife, and more. There is also the option of renting lovely mismatched antique china or paper plates. Tammy said, “The lovely, newly-renovated farmhouse was built in the 1800’s and has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, a den and living room, a laundry room and wrap around porches, complete with swings. Many people make a deposit and then make monthly payments. We try to work with our customers to make their events beautiful and stress free.”

Their exciting new ATV trail will be available next Memorial Day. There will be a charge per vehicle and the option to rent the farmhouse or camp in the pasture. There will be 20 tent spaces available for rent.

The farm is available from May to October for events, depending on the weather and the condition of the roads. It is located at 1484 Shelton Road, Bomont, WV. See Taylor Made Farms LLC on Facebook or at www.taylorfarmswv.com and call them at 304.548.7775 or 304.941.7786 (cell) for reservations and rental package information.

    Touring Taylor Made

    Jun 2018 • Couples

Comparatively, I’d say this tour is bottom of the barrel. If you’re looking to tour some of the high end farms while in central Kentucky, I’d suggest Lane’s End, Coolmore, Three Chimneys or Claiborne. The tours at the aforementioned farms are well thought out and totally geared towards the horse person/horse enthusiast. The tour at Taylor Made, however, appeared as if they didn’t know people were coming to view the farm, and the tour guide was one of the most condescending people I’ve ever encountered. While we may not be thoroughbred people and we don’t breed racehorses, we have a large hunter/jumper barn and own, deal with or ride horses that are extremely expensive as well, so the condescension was kind of shocking. I can’t imagine treating any enthusiast this way if they came to see our facility. Additionally, while we understand and respect that these are working farms, don’t book tours if you’re completely unprepared and disinterested in having guests at your farm. Like really, you couldn’t have ONE SINGLE HORSE on display for a minute or two for your guests to look at? Just stop. That’s horrible. And to look people in the eye and say things like “you can take pictures from here of him way over there in the far corner of his paddock, cause he’s a horse and I can’t make him come when he’s called” is appalling. You had plenty of time to prepare.....you just don’t care. This doesn’t speak well for your industry that needs all the positivity it can get. We toured everything from Hagyard to Spendthrift and beyond and were met with nothing but hospitality and smiling faces. Even when people asked ridiculous questions during any other tour, the guides smiled and answered with respect......the polar opposite here. I genuinely felt bad for the people who asked questions. In my opinion it was a huge waste of time and money not well spent doing the tour.

    Some good points:

The farm is beautiful, the stallions meticulously cared for, and the grooms in the yearlong barn were so nice.

The gift shop was super cute and had horsey stuff for pretty much everyone

And the older woman behind the bar at daddy Joe’s was the sweetest thing

    California Chrome Experience Tour

    Jun 2019 • Couples

We enjoyed visiting this beautiful, sprawling farm which is home to Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome. Our tour guide was personable as well as knowledgeable about the history of the farm and the horses we encountered. At times the tour felt a little rushed. We saw foals , yearlings and saving the best for last, California Chrome himself as he was paraded from his stable down to the viewing area. We also got to take individual photos with Chrome. It was a fun and interesting experience.

Taylor Made Farm tour a great time.

    Apr 2019 • Couples

We took the California Chrome experience tour and it did not disappoint. First we had lunch while there and the burgers were delicious. Then we headed out to see some of the great looking foals/mares that were there. Afterwards, we got to visit California Chrome and spend a lot of time with him. Unlike some other horse farm tours, they allow you to get close to California Chrome to get your photo taken with him. Overall, it was a great time and I got to visit a great champion.

    The California Chrome Experience

    Apr 2019 • Couples

First we start with lunch at Daddy Joe’s. Then we watched a new film about Chrome. We went to the yearling barn to meet one of Chrome’s yearlings, even getting pet him. We moved on to mares and foals. Carly, our guide, lets us pet and love on them all we wanted. Then we moved on to see California Chrome. He is every bit the superstar that he was when he was on the track. We all got to take our pictures with and pet him. He was very patient with all the crazy humans, even making a little girl smile after a crying fit. Highly recommend this tour. It was much better than our last visit.

    Great farm tour

    Dec 2018 • Family

Took my 10-year-old daughter for a tour of the farm and we had a great time. Our guide, Brock, was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of information about the horses and the farm. It’s a beautiful place and I highly recommend this tour.

Great tour but a plastic cup??!!

    Jun 2018 • Friends

We visited the farm and enjoyed the tour. Carly was an excellent guide. This is an immense operation that is well keep and beautiful. I would recommend this for a tour but I feel the price was high to drive our own car to see two barns, several paddocks and end the day with bar food and a PLASTIC "souvenir" cup. Seemed an unpolished finish.

    California Chrome Experience

    Jun 2018 • Friends

Just south of Lexington KY on the Taylor Made Farm, California Chrome, the all time thoroughbred money winner, $14.5+ million, stands in stud. Tour includes a short video, a photo op with California Chrome, a barn tour, a tour of the nursery, ending with dinner back a Daddy Joe's Bar and Grill. Carli, our tour guide, did a great job answering all our questions and educating us on the breeding process. Chrome stands in stud from mid Feb. to early June and is then flown to Chile SA for their breeding season. Interesting day! 2-3 hours.

    Bluegrass farm visit

    Oct 2017 • Family

A beautiful farm with beautiful horses. Unfortunately not only did they not pull one single horse out of their stall but they scheduled the tour at feed time. I did not pay to watch the horses eat!!’

People come to take pictures and see up close. Please do better and make the horses more accessible next time.

    Thank you

My wife and I would like to visit as many of the major thoroughbred farms in the area as possible (including Taylor Made to see the great California Chrome of course). For trip planning purposes, about how long would anyone say you would spend at a typical farm?

    Laura R

    Lexington, KY108 contributions

Hi Alexander! Every farm is different in what they offer and length of time you need to be at the property. I’d suggest calling Horse Country Inc. to help with your questions - 859-963-1004 At Taylor Made there is a onsite bar and grill, gift shop, and golf course in addition to your horse farm tour so they would def require the longest stay if you plan to enjoy any of the added amenities. Hope this helps!

    Business Spotlight: Taylor Made Farms

"With a backdrop that's sure to impress your guests, Taylor Made Farms maximizes the natural beauty of the foothills."

Nestled in the foothills of Taylorsville, North Carolina, Taylor Made Farms is on nearly 50 acres of rolling hills and has a beautiful mountain view. It's the perfect setting for your wedding or next event and we would love nothing more than to work with you!

    The Taylor Made Farms Story...

What started out as a working horse farm in 2011 was transformed into a beautiful rustic wedding and event venue by Brian & Aimee Taylor. The farm was never intended to be a wedding venue. It all happened by accident when Brian & Aimee's sons got engaged. That's when they realized the family farm could offer something unique and different.

The Taylors built and operated the venue for several years and the business grew faster than they ever anticipated. Because Taylor Made Farms was growing so rapidly, it was time to start the hunt for the perfect new owners.

In 2021, Bruce & Claire Gasparre purchased the farm to continue expanding the Taylor's vision. With plans for a grooms house, flower garden walkway down to the water, and so much more, the Gasparre's are so excited to grow Taylor Made Farms and work with all the current couples and the new couples to come!
