(A/N: Hey uh I recently rewatched AT and it's still really important to me, so I wanted to write something kinda special for it. And it actually turned out about as well as I expected. Hope you enjoy.)

Stepping quickly, Finn made his way up through Princess Bubblegum's castle. The monarch had called, merely telling him to hurry and claiming she'd explain everything once he arrived. All he knew was that she had some mission for him. He scurried down a hall and (after a brief knock) cracked the door to her office open.

"Yo, Prubs? Sorry Jake isn't here, I couldn't get ahold of him. Pretty sure he's at Prismo's again."

The princess looked up from her high-tech suitcase, which she was filling with various items from her desk. "Oh, that's alright, Finn, it should be doable for you alone."

"So, what was the big rush?"

"All in due time" She continued packing. "I've been meaning to ask, how are things going with your mother?"

"Oh." Surprised, Finn stepped in and closed the door behind him. "Cool, you know. A little weird since she's missed out on so much mommy stuff. I'm kinda more like her bro than her baby right now, but it's nice how much she's trying."

Princess Bubblegum nodded fondly. "Sorry I haven't been to meet her yet. You know me; busy, busy, busy. Even with Aunt Lolly helping out, Peppermint Butler's been a handful. Really, the whole Golb incident left the kingdom a bit shaken. But there are great things on the horizon for it if today's meeting goes well."

"!" Finn motioned somewhat impatiently for her to continue.

"Oh! Right! Your job for today." The princess cleared her throat. "It is simple, but important. I am about to depart for an informal princess meeting at this new restaurant Lady told me about. It serves escargot, minus the shells."

"So likefried slugs?"

Finn made a face. "Gross."

"Hehe. Yeah. The whole thing was LSP's idea. Ever since she hooked up with Lemongrab, she's kinda been trying to get on my good side."

"Groooss." Finn noticed PB purse her lips. "I-I mean, I'm happy they found each other."

"Anywho, I'll need you to be my bodyguard for the trip. You see, even though the new Ice King has gotten hitched with Turtle Princess, our path will take us to the edge of the Ice Kingdom and the temptation might be too much for him. That area sees plenty of crime in general, so a lot could go wrong. It's up to you and your sweet sword to ensure not just my safety, but that of several princesses."

Finn nodded. "What I do best. I gladly accept, Bubblegum."

"Excellent. I'll be taking the Morrow, and loan you my royal swan for tailing it. Here are the instructions."

He was handed a booklet. "For what?"

"The swan."

"Aaand since I sorta sprang this whole thing on you last-minute, I actually have a reward for when you accomplish your mission."

"Whoa, a surprise?"

"No, I'm telling you what it is in advance. For incentivization's sake."

"Surprise is incentive!"

"Sorry, dude. Showing you now," she walked over to a padlocked armoire. As she passed, Finn picked up an especially nice scent from her. "Guess what it is."

"A new bionic arm!"

"Uh, no." The princess cocked her head. "Would you like one?"

"No" Finn said pensively. "It's fine. I'm good without one. Please just show me the reward before my guesses get more awkward."

"With pleasure." She unlocked and opened the armoire. "Tadaaa!"

Finn looked down to beholda bulky pair of goggles atop a box. "Ilove it?"

"What? Don't you know what this is? I guess it's more vintage than I thought." Princess Bubblegum blew the dust away. "It's a stereoscope! Also known as a stereo slide viewer. Here, take a peek through it."

Finn squinted straight into the goggles. "I seeee a bunch of rocks sittin' in a circle. They're nice rocks and all, but"

"According to this info sheet, they're called 'Stonehenge'," read the princess. "Back in the day, humans considered them a very famous monument."

"Humans did?"

"Yeah, this box is full of pictures and stuff like this. I found them in my mines the other day and I just knew you'd appreciate it. I'm sure your mother would too, so make sure you do a good job on this mission, okay? Don't let nobody mug me! Or else I'll keep all this to myself, and never talk to you again."

"Haha! Sounds like you're threatening to file for divorce, milady."

"I will, and I'll take Goliad and Stormo with me," the princess deadpanned.

"Nooo, not the kids!" Finn fake-cried. "They're my whole world!"

They shared a laugh over that.

"Seriously, Peeb. This is!" Without thinking, he motioned toward her, only to stop short at the sight of her joyful face. Seamlessly, he eased back. "An amazing reward. Thank you."

"No problem. I never would've used it anyway. We should get going now."

"Yeah." Finn stared after as she slipped out the window with her suitcase.
He clutched the stump of his arm and took a deep breath before following after her. The two proceeded to the roof where the royal swan was resting. With a hint of nervousness, Finn mounted it and wrapped his arm around its neck.

"Be gentle with her."

"It's a girl?"

"Pretty much." The princess shrugged. "It might be a long wait once we get to the restaurant; you know how chatty the other princesses can be. I'll save you both some breadsticks if they're good."

"You mean if I'm good?"

"Nope. SKREEEE!"

At its mistress's cry, the Morrow zoomed in front of her and she immediately climbed aboard.

"Be sure to keep up, Finn!" she called back as it took off.

"Oh, uh. Go, swan, go!" the human commanded. "please."

With a low honk, the swan flapped its wings and trailed behind the Morrow.

"Haha! Wow" Finn marveled at the view.

Somehow it was like he was seeing the top of the Cotton Candy Forest for the first time, even though he'd seen it a gazillion times from up on Jake's back. He supposed the flying motion made it different somehow. Recalling his mission, he scanned his surroundings for any threats, but found nothing. Inevitably, his gaze fell upon Princess Bubblegum, her long, sticky hair flowing in the wind. He still remembered how good it smelled.

"" Finn looked away in frustration.

He didn't even know what the heck he was thinking when he leaned toward her earlier. When the princess showed him the stereoscope, he just felt so happy. Happy like he wanted to

"BUT I CAN'T, THOUGH!" he exclaimed, startling the swan. "Shh, shh. Sorry, girl. I'll just think about something else. Suppression. What I do second best."

He attempted to focus on whether or not he wanted a new arm. Minerva had been pushing for him to get one so he wouldn't have phantom pains. But he really didn't feel like he needed one. Now he just saw being one-armed as a new adventure. Finn the One-Armed Human. Finn "One Arm" Mertens. Armo. They were good, memorable hero names. He remembered back to what seemed like an eternity ago; the first time he lost his arm. The break-up with Flame Princess, meeting Martin, and losing a limb, were too much for him then. Thankfully, he was able to grow a new arm with Breezy's help. Breezy and her undying floral love was so inspiring to Finnit inspired him to see a vision of Princess Bubblegum with the Finn sworddangit. He thought about her again.

"At least I know I should be past this. Right?"

He wished he still had Fern to talk to.

It didn't happen often, but Finn would occasionally feel something akin to that old love he had for Princess Bubblegum well up inside of him. Sometimes he even wondered about that old piece of her hair he abandoned on the (now destroyed) treehouse. By the will of Glob, he was always able to hide it expertly. He'd certainly had sufficient practice over the years.

The human heaved a sigh. He'd been her knight and friend all this time and that's how he wanted it to beor did he just settle because he knew that's how it needed to be? In any case, there was no need to pursue her; he was in love with Huntress Wizard, but he was cool not being with her. He loved Flame Princess, but felt totally fine just being bros with her. Why was it PB that kept pulling him back? If Finn could guess, it'd be their history. He knew and loved PB for so long, and undergone so much (good and bad) because of that. But he knew very well by now and PB could never be; she was back with Marceline and she'd made her feelings for him clear. The hours he'd spent crying over her were hours wasted.

It tore him up inside to imagine how ruined everything would be if he'd gone as far as to kiss her back at the castle. He could picture the disgusted look on her face.

"'Scuse me, Finn."

"Finn. Nocome on, Finn, don't be weird."

"Finn, I have citizens who need me! I can't always treat everything like a little boy game!"

Of course, he'd grown past all that. He didn't wanna feel that way ever again.

"That biz with PB really messed me up. Nearly overstocked my vault. She's like a house of pink cards. Nah, nahlike a pretty pink venus fly trap. I've been so careful around her 'cause the thought of her clamping down on me is terrifyinghuh?"

Only then did Finn notice the swan had a steady glide going, gradually nearing the grassy land of the Forest of Trees.

"Peebles! Hey, Peebs!" he called out, pitching his voice higher and higher. "This swan's dropping like a bad habit, what should I do?! PRINCESS!"

Unfortunately, Princess Bubblegum was too jamming out too hard to hear him. He quit shouting for her when her little dancing movements caught his eye.

"Yoo-hoo! PB's swan?" He whistled. "Flap them wings! Fly back up! Fly towards Mama! We gotta…!"

Convinced he was being ignored, Finn whipped out the instruction booklet. He also had his Night Sword's compass on standby in case he lost track of the Morrow. He flipped through the pages for info on his situation. By now, the swan was barely hovering above the ground, but still on course. At least Finn could still watch for threats in his position. His keen eyes fell upon a middle-aged human man with a mess of curly brown hair. He was wearing a multi-colored leotard.

"Hey, buddy," he greeted. "Name's Mark."

"Oh." Finn glanced back up the Morrow. "Hi. Mark."

"You're Minerva's boy, ain't ya?"

"That's me. But if you need help, I'm kinda in the middle of something important."

"Hmm?" Mark followed Finn's line of sight. "Goin' after that pink lady up there? I know all about chasing ladies."

"Yeah. Well, no! Not like tha—"

"There's an art to it. In fact, I've kinda stepped in it with a lady as of late"

"Hohh…" Finn slumped against the back of the swan's neck. This guy gave off Martin-y vibes.

"Yeah, I have this ex-gal Alice. She loooves pasta. All kinds, too. Macaroni and rigatoni and all the -onis. We were together for five whole years, but she dumped me last week and got a new guy, like, the day after. While I'm still single and unsuccessful at mingleing," Mark went on. "It was REAL awkward on the boat trip over here, man. Their room was right next to mine. The odds! Some nights I could hear them, uhhhow old are you?"

"ever given anyone an HBI?"

"Y'know, shaboink? Pound the punanni pavement? At least seen a fur burger?"

"Well, some nights I could hear them, lemme leave it at that. I wasn't listening for it or anything, but the walls were thin. Haha. I'm so lonely. I have no friends or family."

"Dude, don't be like that" As occupied as Finn was at the moment, he hated to see a fellow human upset. And Mark just seemed desperate for someone to talk things out with. "I dunno, if Alice's new boy bothers you so much, maybe you should let her know. Either things'll get better or they'll stay the same. You got nothing to lose, right?"

"Wrong, sir! It could always get worse. Once she knows he bugs me, what's to stop her from rubbing him in my face?"

"Alice wouldn't do that, probably."

"Oh, yeah?"

"Yeah. Because if you were together for that long, there was realness. On some level, you grock each other. Even though y'all didn't work out, I'm willing to bet she doesn't want any bad mayo between you two."

"I guess you're right" Mark scratched his chin. "Maybe she'll even take me back."

"Nah, she put you in the dump. If she found someone else so fast, I doubt she'd change her mind. Good for you if she does, but don't count on it. Besides, you shouldn't want things to go back to how they were. That's cave allegory talk. You're single for the first time in years, dude, embrace it. It's another new adventure! Ain't there any stuff you miss doing from the old days before you and Alice hooked up?"

"Well, she convinced me to stop smoking. So should I start smoking again?"

"No, man. That's bad."

"Oh. Sheee helped me tidy my garage. Sorta miss the organized chaos of it. Should I fill my garage back up?"

"Maybe? Oh!" Finn's knees buckled as the swan raised into the air. "I got it! Bye, Mark! You'll figure it out!"

Mark waved to him. "Byyye!"

"Yeahhh, he'll figure it out. Man, Alice sounds awesome."

Finn really hoped they patched things up. In a matter of seconds, the swan was flying directly behind the Morrow once again and it was pretty smooth sailing for the mission from then on.

While standing patrol outside the slug restaurant, Finn spotted a couple suspicious characters, but a waggle of his sword proved enough to scare them off. Good thing, too, because he wasn't in much of a fighting mood. After a lengthy meeting, Princess Bubblegum bid her fellow royals goodbye and joined the boy outside on a bench.

"Hey, Finn."

"Hey, Princess."

"Got y'all some breadsticks." She kept some for herself, then distributed the rest between Finn and her swan. "The meeting ran a little long, but it went well. How were things for you?"

"Fine. Just fine. Ain't nobody messing with princesses on my watch." Finn stuffed his face. "Mmf, these are good."

"Well, it goes without saying the stereoscope's all yours. You're my hero yet again."

"Bonnie? I've got something heavy-ish to tell you." Finn turned away slightly. "I almost don't want to, but I know I gotta get it off my chest and I hope you'll understand."

The princess's smile faded. "I'll try, Finn. Tell me."

"Well, you know I was i-in love with you for a long time. As much as I liked being friends, it was never enough for me. Even now, after I've accepted it'd never happen and all, those feelings'll resurface and I'll keep pushing them down. It took me freaking forever to even admit it to Jake before. And lately I guess I've been worried and want to know what it means. Likeif I'm just hopeless or something."

"Hmmm." PB bit into a breadstick. "Do you think you're still in love with me?"

"Heck no! I mean! I really don't want to beughhh." Finn began to regret bringing it up. "Can't you just upload my feelings into a computer and drag any lingering buh-bumps for you to the recycling bin? Or inject me with some kinda anti-gaga serum?"

"Heh. That's the thing about feelings. You can hide and suppress them, but never truly eliminate them. I know, I've tried. We all feel what we feel."

Finn hung his head in dissatisfaction. "Oh"

"But feelings can change," Bubblegum added. "I think you're just confused and uncertain about how to interpret your feelings. After all the maturing you've done, don't you feel different? In deinem Herzen?"

"Yeahlike, the skin is calloused, but I'm me at my peach pit."

"It's like Lemongrab, being cuckoo for LSP. Unlike the original LG would ever be. Or Marceline and I. Even when we split forever ago, I still cared for her, but with my growing responsibilities keeping us apart, I concluded that I wasn't in love with her anymore. With how hard she took the break-up, she must've thought the same. But we grew and changed to a point where we realized how real our 'buh-bumps' still are."

"You know, it's entirely plausible you were never in love with me at all. But your misinterpretation of your emotions was so convincing, it's jazzing you up now. It's all about perception. If you view somebody through the same lens, they'll always look the same to you, no matter how much has changed. So try seeing me through a new lens to match the other newness of your life. That sound right?"

Finn gave a cross-eyed stare. "I don'tknow. All I know for sure is that I care about you. A lot. And your brains are really too much for me sometimes."

"Hm-hm," the princess smirked. "They sure areI'm glad you shared all this, Finn."

"You're not weirded out?"

"Nah. I've found it's better to be open about these things. And I don't want you to be ashamed of them," her eyes grew big and sparkly. "Because I care a lot about you too, you know."

"I know." Finn patted her back as she hugged him. "Uh, can I ask a favor?"

"What's that?"

"Can I just shoot ONE laser from your swan? Pleeease?"

"Go ahead, Finn."

"Haha, pentagonal." Finn yanked the switch at the back of the swan's head, firing a blast from its mouth high into the sky. He smiled, truly content with his newfound insight on the deepest depths of his soul, and his love for PB. It was like leveling up.

"Oh. Bet that's Jake." Finn pulled his phone from his backpack. "It's ya boy Finn."

"Hey, bro!"

"Called it."

"DUDE, where have you been? Bubblegum needed our help today and you wouldn't pick up."

"Sorry, what'd she need us for? I was at the TR with Prismo."

"Called it again," Finn whispered to the princess, who stifled a chuckle. "Well, she needed escorting to this princess meeting she was going to. But don't worry, I took care of it."

"Oh, did ya?"

"Yeah? What's with the accusatory tone, Jakers?"

"Nothing, justyou and Bubblegum are so cool after everything. Y'know, all the heartache. I'd never be able to hang around with my ex like that. Too much stress on my neurons. I'm impressed with you, I guess."

"Ohh!" Princess Bubblegum spoke up. "You're impressed Finn can stand hanging out with me, huh?"

"OHHH, HEY, PRINCESS." Jake laughed nervously. "Didn't know you were there!"

PB put on an angry voice. "Clearly."

"Haha, ahhh, you get what I was trying to say, right? Of course you do, you're a genius!" The dog rushed through his words. "A'ight, see you two later!"

Finn Petrikov (full title: Finn the Human, known as Finn Mertens in the Farmworld timeline and formerly as Pen in the original short) is the main protagonist of the series Adventure Time.

As shown in "Memories of Boom Boom Mountain," Finn appears to have been abandoned in the woods during infancy. He reveals that he made "boom boom" (Finn's word for defecation) on a large leaf, fell on it, and lay there crying until Joshua and Margaret (Jake's parents) rescued him from the wilderness to raise him alongside Jake, who becomes like a brother to him (as such, Jermaine is also Finn's adoptive brother). In "Memory of a Memory," a baby Finn is seen singing a song in the bathroom of what appears to be Joshua and Margaret's house. In "Henchman," when Finn is asked about his parents, he says Jake told him that he came from a cabbage, in jest. In "Susan Strong," Finn states that he knows nothing of his human parents or any other humans.

Status as the last human[]

Finn is the only confirmed human in the Land of Ooo. In the episode "Her Parents," Lady Rainicorn's dad says he thought humans were extinct. This lends new significance to his title "Finn the Human," as his humanity may be unique in Ooo.

Up until "Susan Strong," Finn believes he has never met another human. Finn becomes morose and "soul-searchy" when he thinks about it. In the same episode, Finn encounters Susan Strong. Even though the other members of Susan's tribe of Hyoomans were revealed to be mutants, Susan's identity as a human or mutant is left ambiguous. In "Beautopia," it may be true that Susan is also a human, but it was not confirmed. The businessmen are also likely humans, but their minds have been damaged by being frozen for so long, and they talk like zombies. They also have boils all over their face, which may also be a result of being frozen.

Other "human" characters (such as Penny, Phil or the Old Man Henchman) have been confirmed by the show's creator, Pendleton Ward, to be mutants or humanoids. According to Pendelton Ward's FAQ page, even Finn is mutated in some way.

Fionna is also a human, although she is just a character in Ice King's fan fiction. Ice King was formerly a human, as shown in "Holly Jolly Secrets Part II."

Moe, creator of&#;BMO&#;was also human but as he grew old, some of his functions were run by machines leaving only his skin and hair human.&#; He is still now classified as a humanoid, since he is a human-like being that lives in the land of Ooo.

Appearance and equipment[]

Finn is a year-old&#;human. He is roughly five feet tall. He has several missing teeth because he bites trees and rocks among other things.

Although his eyes typically lack detail and appear as small black dots due to a minor mutation, they are shown to have color in the episode "The Enchiridion!," when Finn is tried by the Dark Magician. His left eye is green while his right eye is blue, characteristic of the genetic condition heterochromia. (However, as stated by lead character designer Andy Ristaino on Spring, "That was a special occasion. The heterochromatic effect was a byproduct of him being hypnotized by that guardian dude." Andy confirmed that Finn's eyes are blue.

px-Finn cabello rubio hora de aventura.jpg

Finn has blonde hair which is first seen in "To Cut a Woman's Hair," where Finn removed his hat, and long, golden locks of hair flowed out. His hair had a glowing sheen and extended his body length, until he cut it off and gave it to the Tree Witch. His hair subsequently began to regrow, as shown in "Mortal Folly," "Heat Signature," "Apple Thief," "Beautopia," "No One Can Hear You," "Another Way," "Beyond this Earthly Realm," "Gotcha!," "You Made Me," "Who Would Win," "The Hard Easy," "The Lich," "Jake the Dog," and "All the Little People." In "Another Way," Finn's hair nearly touched his shoulders, and later in "Beyond this Earthly Realm," Finn's hair was shown to have grown past his shoulders. In "Gotcha!," Lumpy Space Princess saw an illusion of Finn with hair reaching his waist. Finn's hair is also seen in "You Made Me"&#;when he blocks the blast from Lemongrab which caused his hat to rip off. A few strands of his hair also came out in "Who Would Win" after Finn got repeatedly beaten by Jake and they were evident throughout the majority of the episode. It makes an appearance in "The Hard Easy," having roughly the same length as in "Beyond this Earthly Realm." In "The Lich," Finn pulled off his hat showing it seemed a bit longer than in its appearance in "The Hard Easy." In the episode "Davey," Finn has shaved off almost all of his hair for the second time so he could disguise as 'Davey'. In "Little Dude," it started to grow again. In "The Great Bird Man," Finn's hair seems to be growing longer again. In "A Glitch is a Glitch," his hair is the same length from when it was first shown. In "Puhoy," Finn, as an adult, grew facial hair. His hair could also be seen in "Jake Suit." In "Love Games," his hair appears to be the same length it was in "You Made Me." In "Dungeon Train," it was a bit shorter than in "Love Games."

Finn wears a white hat with two "ears" sticking out on top. The hat is inspired by a character called Bueno, a bear that appears in comics made by Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time. Consequently, Finn's hat is bear themed; coincidentally the Hyoomans wear animal themed hats as well. This might be a hint that humans in the Land of Ooo wear animal hats to fit in the society. Finn's hat covers his entire head except for his face. He also wears a light-blue T-shirt (or as he would call it, baby blue "boy-style"), denim shorts, a green circular backpack, rolled-down white socks, and a pair of black shoes. In "Ocean of Fear," his footwear appears to be black booties with white cuffs. In "It Came from the Nightosphere," Finn had a small pocket sewn onto his shirt that he carried Jake in. It appeared again in "Davey" for Finn to steal the keys from the guards and where he can hide Jake in when he broke out of Jail. When he is in the Ice Kingdom, he occasionally wears a yellow sweater, but has also recently worn his pink sweater made by Princess Bubblegum. In "In Your Footsteps," the Bear wears Finn's clothes, which may mean that Finn has multiple sets of the same outfit, along with multiple hats. However, in "Little Dude," when Finn's hat comes to life and is set free, Jake tells Finn, "OK, let's go skin an evil&#;bear," which may imply that Finn only has one hat, or only had one hat left.

He wears white briefs that made an appearance in "City of Thieves" when Penny stole his trousers at the end of the episode. In "Who Would Win," he was shown to wear a different pair with red elastic.

Finn sleeps in red footie pajamas that have appeared in many episodes, but in the animated short, he sleeps in a red sleeping bag in his regular clothes. In the series, the sleeping bag is beige.

Although Finn has wielded a number of weapons, he originally favored a gold sword. As of the episode "Mystery Train," Finn is shown using a new sword with a pink/silver blade and a red, twisted "root" handle. (Finn's original sword was destroyed by a black hole in "The Real You.") Along with his new root sword, his green backpack has a new side strap that can hold the sword while Finn is walking. In the episode "Dad's Dungeon," Finn and Jake ventured into Joshua's dungeon, which was built by Joshua to toughen Finn up. In the dungeon, Finn retrieves Jake's family sword, which has replaced the root sword as his primary weapon. Overall, Finn is known to have three main swords: a golden sword, a root sword, and the demon blood sword. However, this sword was snapped in half by Finn in "Play Date." It is unknown what sword Finn currently uses. They are a number of other swords seen being used by Finn, but it seems that he had not kept them.

In "Conquest of Cuteness," Finn was shown to have a crossbow. He used a different one in "The New Frontier," although it appears he is not as successful as with one of his swords.

Personality and character traits[]

Though at times violent and aggressive, Finn is a brave and righteous hero. He has a very strong sense of responsibility and gets upset when he is unable to help others. He seems to be somewhat overprotective of his friends; such as when&#;Tree Trunks almost got killed in the episode "Tree Trunks" and Jake in&#;"The New Frontier."&#;He is almost physically incapable of doing anything evil or unjust, and will struggle greatly against doing such things, as seen in several episodes such as "City of Thieves," "Mortal Recoil," "The Eyes," and "The Enchiridion!" Even though he acts like a normal boy, Finn acts like a gentleman when it comes to ladies. As revealed in "Davey," despite his heroic nature, he also takes a liking to a "normal life" without any recognition or praise for being a hero.

Finn is shown to be a fearless thrill-seeker and enjoys putting himself in the midst of danger simply because he enjoys a challenge. However, as illustrated in "Ocean of Fear," Finn has an unexplained phobia of the ocean, or thalassophobia, despite the fact that he can effortlessly come into contact with any other body of water. While he portrays himself as a rough and tough hero, Finn has a tender side capable of love and compassion, as shown by his boyhood crush on Princess Bubblegum and his brotherly relationship with Jake. However, Finn seems to hate romance movies and kissing because in "Go With Me," he actually vomits during a kissing scene in a movie. However, at the end of "Dream of Love," Finn was not grossed out by Tree Trunks and the Pig kissing. Finn's growth in accepting romance and physical love is also demonstrated when he willingly kisses Princess Bubblegum in "Too Young" and his latest ex-girlfriend, Flame Princess, in "Burning Low."

Finn's aspirations to be a great hero makes him somewhat of a moral sheriff in the Land of Ooo, as he is willing to help and protect any innocent person or creature. Finn appears to be somewhat simple-minded, seeing that he gets a lot of conflicting emotions when it is unclear whether something is good or evil (exemplified by his dealings with Marceline in the episode "Henchman").

Many aspects of Finn's personality are shrouded in mystery. In the episode "Rainy Day Daydream," it was shown that Finn believes "imagination is for turbonerds who can't handle how kick butt reality is," showing Finn not only accuses imagination users as "turbonerds" and believes life is fantastic. Finn then refused to use his imagination until he had to reactivate Jake's "bombastic personality" in his imagination land, (which was just a basic gray and white empty plane hinting that Finn is not very imaginative, but that was contradicted in "Power Animal" when the gnomes harnessed the energy from Finn's imagination) which was inhabited with a few dainty creatures such as Bellamy Bug. Finn's imagination was than powerful enough to effect the real world (like Jake's but to a lower degree) and turn on Jake's imagination.

Finn can also be very stubborn; such as in "Memories of Boom Boom Mountain," "Wizard,"&#;"Dungeon"&#;"Rainy Day Daydream," and especially in "Another Way." Finn can also be easily tricked, as in "The Eyes" when Jake convinced him that the giant hawks would take the horse to a land of sunshine and love stuff and take care of him. He can get overly angry and yell as in "Trouble in Lumpy Space" and "Tree Trunks," but he immediately feels guilt and remorse and apologizes when he can. Finn prefers to do work and not take the easy way out ("Business Time" and "The Real You").

While Finn is shown to be a courageous warrior, he is also shown to have several fears. In "Another Way" and "King Worm," he is shown to have a fear of clowns. Also in "King Worm" he is shown to have a fear of Bubblegum calling him too young, and he also fears the return of the Lich, or possibly just the Lich himself. He is also shown to fear the Ghost Lady ("King Worm," and "The Creeps") and the ocean ("King Worm," and "Ocean of Fear"). However despite all this Finn is a a really kind and selfless person always putting the safety of others above his own. Jake also says that "he is a good kid with a kind heart" a trait which is true and that Finn has throughout the whole series.

Finn is proficient in several forms of combat, including hand-to-hand combat, magic, and swordsmanship. He can jump very high and is exceptionally strong and agile for a boy of his age. Despite his age and appearance, Finn seems to be quite strong and athletic; he can be seen wrestling full-grown Marauders, the large grass ogre Donny, and a general variety of monsters and creatures several times his size. Finn is also capable of lifting up Princess Bubblegum, as shown in "Mortal Recoil" when he picks her up and puts her in her bed, and capable of lifting up Marceline as seen in "Daddy's Little Monster." In addition, he was able to lift a tree and hit the giant spider Barb with it in "Web Weirdos." In "Another Way," Finn was able to run around carrying a giant cyclops' eye. Lastly, in "Dad's Dungeon," when he stabbed the Evil Monster in the eye, he was able to lift him up slightly off the ground and flip him into the pit. Being the size it is, the giant Evil Monster should have weighed at least a couple of tons, thus showing how strong Finn is. He also can make his arms and legs bend in inhuman ways, as during the Science Dance and when he uses "spaghetti limbs" (waving his arms and legs, which Jake can also do). In "The New Frontier," it is shown that Finn can make fire only with his hands. Finn is very tolerant to pain as shown in "No One Can Hear You" when the stag broke his legs; he just says, "whatever." Also, in "The Lich," he was able to break the Enchiridion on his knee. He even tries to teach Jake how to do pain tolerance in "Jake Suit," when he says," just pretend like every bruise is a hickey from the universe." Finn seems to have impeccable balance, as he was able to balance himself on two wheels in his wheelchair in the episode "No One Can Hear You." However, he refers to it as "skills." One of Finn's weaknesses is&#;Short-Cone monochromancy&#;(tendency to see the colors green and red as gray), as shown in&#;"Red Starved."

Finn has the ability to mentally fight psychic abilities. The first time was against the Lich. The second time was against Goliad, as he was constantly able to manipulate his thoughts in order to avoid revealing the plan to defeat Goliad, allowing Princess Bubblegum to create Stormo. Finn can focus for a very long time as shown in "Still" when he spends hours telepathically summoning an Astral Beast. As demonstrated in "The Creeps," Finn can lock unwanted memories in "the vault," which is later seen in "King Worm." However, this is a normal human ability which is activated if the scene the person had witnessed is too traumatizing for them. Finn has the ability to read and write, and he can also do simple math.

Besides combat, Finn has displayed many other impressive abilities in handicraft. He has some origami skills, as shown in "Ricardio the Heart Guy," in which he makes Princess Bubblegum a paper crane, as well as in "Marceline's Closet," in which he makes a paper airplane. In addition to that, Finn is shown to be able to construct a sculpture (of the Candy Kingdom) from his saliva, which was also made for Princess Bubblegum in "The Real You." Finn is also somewhat gifted at constructing simple machines, such as the catapult in "The Witch's Garden."

Finn enjoys singing; after swallowing a tiny computer, he gained the ability to Auto-tune his voice on command, although he can sing without Auto-tune as well. Apparently, Finn can also play the flute, demonstrated in "Prisoners of Love," in which he played a short lick before javelin-throwing it at Ice King. Unfortunately, the flute fell apart before it could hit him, so Finn is not seen playing the flute again except as Farmworld Finn at the end of "The Lich" and near the climax of "Finn the Human" when he shoves it into Tromo's nose. He is also very good at beat boxing as seen in "It Came from the Nightosphere" and "What Was Missing." In "Gut Grinder," Finn tries to play Jake's viola, but Jake says he stinks. Jake even imitates his foot prints and said "I'm Finn the Human, and I stink at viola." However, during "Death in Bloom," Finn panicked over what instrument to pick, supposedly because he could not play any of them, and settles for sleigh bells. In the episode "Go With Me," Finn is seen playing the lute. In "Daddy's Little Monster," he is seen playing the tambourine.

Finn is very good at playing a video game called Adventure Master, which he and Jake play on BMO from time to time. He can also spit very long distances, as demonstrated in "Evicted!," when he spits on Marceline, in "My Two Favorite People," when he spits on Tiffany's face, and in "Web Weirdos," when he spits at birds flying overhead, while suspended upside down on a giant spider web. In "Dungeon," one of the trials that Jake says Finn would have breezed through is a spitting competition against a goblin-like creature. In "Burning Low," Finn is shown to be able to spit water incredibly high into the air. In "Who Would Win," Finn showers Jake with an abnormal amount of saliva through spitting. As seen in "Frost & Fire," Finn normally writes with his right hand, but he can write and draw with both hands and occasionally at the same time. He additionally handles his sword with his right hand. Suggesting he may be ambidextrous, able to use both hands with equal skill.

Finn and Jake gained magical abilities in the episode "Wizard," but they have never used those abilities in any other episode. Pendleton Ward later revealed on his Spring that all of the magic Finn and Jake gained in that episode was contained in their robes, which were destroyed. Likewise, in "The Chamber of Frozen Blades," Finn and Jake gain ice-ninja skills, but it is unlikely they will use them again because, according to Adam Muto, "They didn't have enough time to commit the incantations and hand positions to memory." Finn seems to speak Latin (as evidenced in "Morituri Te Salutamus,") although this may be caused by the magical powers of Fight King's arena. In "Daddy's Little Monster," for the first time, he becomes an antagonist by wearing the Nightosphere amulet, although it is only temporary.

Fighting Style[]

Finn is an aggressive hand-to-hand combatant, combining some forms of martial arts or his amazing swordsmanship skills. Finn prefers overpowering his opponents but when he has to, he is quick enough to understand an opponent's weakness or using his environment to win a fight.

Finn isn't seen cooking very often because Jake cooked most of the meals they eat. However, in "In Your Footsteps" it mentioned and shown he makes Finn Cakes.

Finn was 12 years old at the start of the series and is progressively growing older realistically. As of "Mystery Train," he turned 13 years old. Finn is shown going through puberty throughout the series. This is seen whenever when he is screaming - his voice cracks. Finn's voice is noticeably deeper at 13 than it was at age 12, as a result of his voice actor aging. Episodes with early production codes have Finn with a very childlike voice such as "The Enchiridion," "Prisoners of Love," "Evicted," and "Ricardio the Heart Guy."

In an interview in early (at the end of season three), Pen Ward stated that Finn is

After the episode "Earth & Water," it was revealed that Flame Princess was 15 years old. Assuming that they were both the same age (In&#;Incendium, Flambo and Jake stated that she was Finn's age), Finn would be 15 by now.

Lute suit[]

In the episode "Go With Me," Finn is shown wearing a "lute suit" provided by his friend Jake in his attempt to convince Princess Bubblegum to go to the movies with him. It is also shown later in the same episode when he tries to get Marceline to go to the movies with him.

Magic Fist[]

Magic Fist is the alter-ego of Finn and Jake that first appeared in "Wizard Battle." He is not a real wizard; he only entered Wizard Battle to save Princess Bubblegum from having to kiss Ice King for the prize was a kiss from her on the lips. He wore a blue eye mask, an electric-green hood, and a large red robe. Finn was the head, while Jake was the body. See the gallery section for more images.

Cat Finn[]

Modelsheet finn ascat.png

Finn was turned into a cat by the Grand Master Wizard when Finn had forfeited the Wizard Battle; however, Finn was able to break out of it, enraged by Abracadaniel deciding to take the kiss from Princess Bubblegum.

Prince Hotbod[]

In the episode "The Creeps," Finn wears a black tuxedo ending in a split tail with blue trimming on the collar, a matching blue bow tie, a gray vest, a brown and tan fox mask over his characteristic hat, and brown "fancy gloves."

Giant foot Finn.png

In the episode "Freak City," Finn is turned into a foot by Magic Man posing as a beggar. As a foot he has great difficulty moving at first, and only musters the effort to make himself fall over. Finn becomes depressed at his physical handicap while Jake tries to make him realize that being a foot is a blessing. Finn is unconvinced, and later in the episode he becomes motivated to return to his original body after discovering that Magic Man has turned many people into body parts as well. After creating Super Freak and seemingly defeating Magic Man, Magic Man restores Finn and the rest of the freaks to their original bodies.

Zombie Finn[]

Zombie Finn looks like Finn, and apparently appeared in "Slumber Party Panic." Zombie Finn appears when the zombies break the barricades, in the bottom left corner of the first window to be broken open. Zombie Finn also appears in the Adventure Time game, Rhythm Heroes. In the game, Finn appears as a zombie just like in "Slumber Party Panic." He seems to be controlled by Marceline in the game, and he is next to two other zombies, a cupcake and a candy heart. He was most likely added as a joke or Easter egg.

Lumpy Finn[]

In the episode "Trouble in Lumpy Space," Finn turns into a Lumpy Space person to give the antidote to Jake so that he can return back to his normal body.

By doing this, he turns into a Lumpy Space person as well. Lumpy Finn hates Lumpy Jake.

Demonic Finn[]

In "Daddy's Little Monster," Finn puts on the Nightosphere amulet to rescue Jake and Marceline from the Nightosphere. This causes him to transform into a huge, monstrous, demonic form similar to Hunson Abadeer. Afterwards, he tried to pull Jake and Marceline back in. He is reverted to his original form by Hunson himself.

Paper plate demon Finn[]

To sneak into the Nightosphere in the episode "Daddy's Little Monster," Finn disguises himself by putting on his red pajamas, cutting a paper plate and putting it on his face, and taping forks to his hat.

Hug Wolf Finn[]

In the episode "Hug Wolf," Finn is hugged by the Alpha Hug Wolf on a full moon, causing him to transform every night into a Hug Wolf himself. When he is in this form, he must go on a hugging spree to fulfill his hug lust. When he awakens each morning after being in this form, he has no memory of the night. When a Hug Wolf, Finn's hands and feet are heart-shaped, he has shaggy gray fur, and he wears torn clothing. He is cured when he hugs the Alpha Hug Wolf, curing her as well.

Jake's shadow[]

S4 E13 Shadow Finn.jpg

In the episode "Princess Cookie," Finn dresses in a black bodysuit and pretends to be Jake's shadow in order to get into the grocery store and take out the Chocolate Chips.

Alternate Universe Finn (Finn Mertens)[]

In the episodes "Finn the Human" and "Jake the Dog" Finn is shown with a pointed nose, wide eyes, a robotic arm, and a blue sweater instead of a blue shirt. He became like this because of the wish that Prismo granted him. He is reverted when Jake makes his own wish.

In the homonymous episode, Finn disguised himself as

&#;"Davey" in an attempt to hide from his followers. This eventually evolves into his own character, possibly hinting Finn temporarily developed a multiple personality disorder.

In "The Vault," it is revealed that the weird amorphous ghost lady that has seemingly been haunting him was Shoko, his former self in a past life that got horribly mutated.&#;Finn completes her dying wish, by returning Princess Bubblegum's amulet that Shoko had stolen.

Other past lives[]

In "The Vault," along with Shoko, a few other of Finn's past lives are shown, first, he was a comet, then a butterfly, and a strange blob like creature.

  • In the Cartoon Network Live Action Promo "What Time Is It?" Finn is portrayed by Christopher Kramme.
  • In Legends of Ooo, it is seen that Finn has a telescope which he uses to spy on Princess Bubblegum.
    • However, if you play the game with Lumpy Space Princess, she says that the telescope is pointed at Lumpy Space. Although she may be lying about that.
  • Finn has only shown to be afraid of a few things:
    • Being too young and/or being rejected by his loved ones, seen throughout the series, revealed in&#;"King Worm"
    • The ocean (thalassophobia), as seen in&#;"Ocean of Fear"
    • Ghost Lady, as seen in&#;"The Creeps"&#;(conquered)
    • The Lich, as seen in&#;"Mortal Folly"
    • Jake dying, as seen in "The New Frontier" and "Sons of Mars"
    • Clowns (coulrophobia), as seen in&#;"Another Way"
    • The Fear Feaster as seen in "Ocean of Fear" and "King Worm."
    • Spiders (Arachniphobia) as seen in "Web Wierdos."
  • Finn is technically still the King of the Goblins; the goblins believe his scapegoat, Whisper Dan, to be him.
  • Finn has a fictional female counterpart: Fionna.
  • One of Finn's catch-phrases is being "all about" something. In "Freak City," Finn says he is "frickin' all about sugar." Yet, he also explains that he is even more "all about feeding hobos." In "The Real You," Finn shouts "I'm all about stupid!"
  • In "Dad's Dungeon," it is revealed that Finn cries rarely; only in such devastating situations, such as death or heartbreak.
    • In the episode "Incendium", Finn cried about Princess Bubblegum breaking his heart.
    • In the episode "Sons of Mars", Finn cried about Jake dying.
    • In the episode "Heartburn", Finn cried about his breakup with Flame Princess.
  • Finn and Jake frequently use math terms as catch-phrases and at times censors for curse words. However, they are shown to be terrible at math as confirmed in the episode "Slumber Party Panic." (Examples of these words include: mathematical, rhombus, algebraic and math). This has seemingly been abandoned as the show progresses.
  • Finn's favorites have been stated throughout the series.
    • Finn's favorite color is baby blue "boy style," as revealed in "The Silent King."
    • Finn's favorite food is meatloaf, as stated in "Still" and later confirmed in "Jake Suit."
    • Finn's favorite song sounds like an alternative version of "Itsy Bitsy Spider."
  • When Finn is wearing his doctor suit in "His Hero," he has three Scientific Parasites in his pockets.
  • In "Jake vs. Me-Mow," Finn carries his adoptive mother's music box in his pack and knows her lullaby by heart.
  • Stormo is a creation partially made from Finn's DNA from the episode "Goliad."
  • Flame Princess is Finn's first and former girlfriend. Jake referred to Princess Bubblegum as Finn's ex-girlfriend in "In Your Footsteps," but Finn replied that they "never went steady."
  • It appears that Finn is the only character so far who ages consistently.
    • In the beginning of the series, Finn's voice is more high pitched, but later near the latest episodes, Finn's voice is a bit deeper from puberty.
  • There is a secret GPS implanted on Finn's ear by Princess Bubblegum, as stated in "Lady & Peebles."
  • Finn refers to&#;Flame Princess as his girlfriend for the first time in "Puhoy."
  • Each alternate form of Finn has a prosthetic limb, a mechanical right arm. Finn can be seen with one in "Finn the Human," "King Worm" and "Puhoy." In The Vault Finn's former self, Shoko, also is given a prosthetic limb.
  • Besides&#;Tree Trunks' pies, Finn also likes&#;Wildberry Princess' meat pies.
  • Finn likes to make lists to remember things, like in "The Real You" and "Five Short Graybles."
  • Finn might be tolerant to high/extreme temperatures, as seen in the episode "Jake Suit" when Jake dipped his head in lava. This may be because he is already accustomed to heat from his relationship with Flame Princess.
  • Finn's hat remotely resembles that of "Maxwell" in Scrbblenauts.
  • Finn has deuteranomaly (tendency to see the color green as red); as shown in&#;"Red Starved," he perceived a large emerald as being a ruby.
  • In "Dungeon Train," Jake says Finn is about 5' tall.
  • Finn may have some driving experience. In "Candy Streets," Finn drives Jake after he turns into a car. (This may only be true if Jake wasn't controlling himself.)
  • According to the Official Adventure Time Encyclopedia, he is named Finn because when Josh and Margaret first discovered him, not knowing what a human was, they at first assumed he was a Mudfish.
  • Finn has had many full lip kisses before.
    • The first one was in the episode "Too Young" where he kissed Young Princess Bubblegum on the lips to make her grow into an eighteen year old again.
    • The second was in the episode Wizard Battle where Princess Bubblegum kissed him on the lips as a reward for winning the wizard battle.
    • The third was in the episode "Burning Low" where he and Flame Princess shared their first kiss together.

    • The fifth was in the episode "The Hard Easy" where he kissed the Mega Frog on the lips to turn him back into Huge Prince.
    • The sixth was in the episode "Fire & Light" where he kissed Solar Princess on the lips when she was fighting Flame Princess.

  • Finn McCool was an adventurer and hero of Irish mythology. "Finn" is actually a nickname meaning "blonde."
  • Finn's hat is similar to Maxwell's from the Scribblenauts video game series.

Production notes[]

  • In the original short, Finn was named "Pen."
    • In Issue 9, it is revealed that Finn had been called "Pen" in the original short&#;because of his love for pens. A future Finn then takes his red sleeping bag when him and Jake leave to help Lady Rainicorn, also leaving a note of advice telling Finn to use his real name. This, however, is most likely non-canon.
  • In the pilot, Finn is voiced by Zack Shada. However, in the series, he is voiced by Zack's younger brother, Jeremy Shada.
    • Jeremy Shada can make Finn's voice crack when asked during episode recording to better represent his youth and growth.
  • In the original storyboard of "The Lich," it is revealed that Finn's father was "unlawfully" brought to a crystal-like dimensional prison a few years ago. It keeps the most dangerous criminals from other dimensions and Finn's father still fights them. However, since this was not shown in the final project, it may not be canon.

Appearances in other media[]

  • Finn and Jake appeared four times on the series MAD.
  • Finn appears as a playable character on Cartoon Network's TKO where his special moves are Look Out Below (when Jake falls on your opponent) and Sidekick Swing (when Finn grabs Jake's paw and Jake swings him at the opponent) and his super move is when Jake falls onto the opponent with an axe.
  • Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Ice King, Stanley the watermelon, and the Reaper are characters in the game FusionFall, in which the player helps Finn save two princesses, get shirts from Stanley, and train with Finn in the petting zoo (Generator Rex).
  • Like most of the main characters, Finn is an Exosuit in the game Project Exonaut. His suit is in the "Banzai Squadron" (red) faction.
  • There is a licensed Halloween costume of Finn.
  • In the popular Facebook game called "Pet Society," there is a&#;Finn Costume labeled, "Odessey&#;Boy Costume."

  • Synopsis: "Finn has always wondered about his existence. When the past reveals his identity, he must make a choice. Stay with the ones he loves or the ones he wants to love. All the while, one man's imagination tugs at the strings, creating clouds of discord."
  • Pairing: None so far.
  • Comments: The story is yet to be fully realized but its first chapters have gained well written reviews. The humor sounds like the actual show and doesn't try to force anything on the reader. One user, Ruby Sword (writer of the above The Last Human), points out a Homestuck-style of humor. In addition, there are decent references, including Regular Show and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. While one user says it's a crossover due to Mordecai and Rigby's appearance, the author has made known that it is mainly Adventure Time and thus, an Adventure Time fanfic. The only complaint is update time. Months could go by before another chapter resurfaces. In addition, the plot has yet to be fully realized. Overall, the style is nice and the plot shows promise.

  • Status: Dead Fic
  • Synopsis: "A revelation regarding the fate of one of her closest friends drives Marceline to delve into her own past. Revisiting old scars and uncovering truths about her friends, her family, her world, and most importantly herself."
  • Pairing: None
  • Comments: Those of you familiar with the MLP/Doctor Who crossovers Time Lords and Terror and Mines of Dragon Mountain will be pleased to know that Hephestus is once again writing, albeit not for the same fandom. The story takes place directly after the episode 'I Remember You' and utilizes Marceline telling Finn and Jake about her history with the Ice King as a framing device for the main narrative. The main narrative so far has focused on Marceline as a child during the mushroom war and effectively portrays how awful such a scenario must have been. Although quite new, the writing is rich and effective and the characterizations are great. This is definitely a fic to keep an eye on.

Absolution by Theonewhodidnotdoit

  • Recommended by: Loekman 3
  • Status: Oneshot
  • Sypnosis: At the end of a long and bloody war, it is time to find out: Who is the victor, who is the villain, and who bears the blame?
  • Comments: While this fic focuses on war between the Fire and Candy Kingdoms, unlike Scorched Ooo that I recommended in the Dark Fic folder, Princess Bubblegum acts like more of the Bubblegum I know and liked. Not only that but the war is also a lot more idealistic and ends on a more positive note than most war did (Of course it does makes the readers at first believe that Bubblegum is seen to be a dick before The Reveal)

Her Loyal Friend by BlueNinja

  • Recommended by: Loekman 3
  • Status: Oneshot
  • Sypnosis: When Flame Princess comes to Finn for help, the human must put aside all his feelings in order to help her reclaim her throne.
  • Comments: A Fix Fic of "The Red Throne" that rerails Finn from a love-maniac who would flirt with her ex at every opportunity to annoying levels into a hero who would do anything to help his girl, even if he must put aside his feelings for her. While the ending is quite predictable, if you disliked Finn's behaviour in "The Red Throne" and prefer him to act like the true hero he is, then this fan fiction is just for you.

Finn and Marceline by Planet Cool

  • Recommended by Carth
  • Status: Dead Fic
  • Synopsis: Jake experiences jealousy and loneliness after Finn starts spending more time with Marceline.
  • Pairing: Finn and Marceline friendship. So far, anyway.
  • Comments: That synopsis is woefully inadequate, but an attempt to explain what this story's about and where it goes would result in my copying the fic word-for-word. If this isn't the best AT fic out there, it's at least the best gen fic. Has the zany feel, snappy dialogue, and subtle bawdiness of the best Adventure Time episodes, not to mention brilliant characterization and action packed action sequences of action. The perfect cure for the end of the season.

The Last Human By: Incognito Joe

  • Recommended by Deep C, Xalts, Lord Ed
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "Following Princess Bubblegum's unexpected marriage to a stranger, a seventeen year old Finn decides to move on from his heartbreak by trying to discover the truth about his heritage, and if he is, in fact, the last of his kind. Finn's POV".
  • Pairing: Finn and Marceline.
  • Comments: This fanfic is quite well written. The dialogue sounds just like it was taken from the series, the new characters are quite interesting and are not Mary Sues. Finn's first person perspective is handled quite well, along with the love triangle between Finn, Princess Bubblegum, and Marceline. At this rate, this fanfiction deserves its own Tropes Article. - Deep C
    • Seconded. The Adventure Time section of can be a painful trawl but finding gems like this makes it all worth it. Absolutely brilliant - Xalts
    • Also seconded. It's a superb story, the characters are spot-on and the fic itself is extremely well written. I enjoyed the drama and the dialogue was great. If I hadn't known better, I would think I was reading the long-lost script to a scrapped AT finale. Simply beautiful. - Lord Ed

Fast As You Can By: Incognito Joe

The Elder God of Chaos by Neverthrive

  • Recommended by Deep C
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "A character from Marceline's past is coming to destroy the land of Ooo and Finn must stop it, no matter the cost. Marceline X Finn. For the Tree Stumps contest".
  • Pairing: Finn and Marceline.
  • Comments: This is actually a pretty good fanfic. While there are some spelling errors, the flow of this story is well done. The OC known as the Elder God of Chaos is pulled off quite nicely and is anything but a Mary Sue. The part with Billy telling Finn that there is no other way to save Ooo but to sacrifice himself is fairly heart-breaking. I would recommend this fanfic for certain. Plus, the ending with Finn becoming a vampire actually caught me by surprise.

Second Chances by Neverthrive

  • Pairing: Finn and Marceline.
  • Comments: In this fic, The Master Hama shows the dire consequences of being the last human in Ooo. Very well written, and Marceline's and Finn's slightly twisted relationship is both Heartbreaking and Heartwarming. Definitely worth a read.

  • Pairing: Finn/Flame Princess
  • Comments: Wow. Justwow. This is one of the greatest AT fanfics I have ever read. Not only that, it's one of the best fanfics overall I have ever read. The character development is well-done and believable, the story has heart, humor, and richness, and the Big Bad Lucian reminds me greatly of Lelouch. The The Dragon and Starscream Connor is also a delightfully deranged character who definitely crosses the Moral Event Horizon whenyou'll have to read for yourself.

Scorched Ooo by Fiery Crusader

  • Recommended by: Loekman 3
  • Status: Dormant; last updated September
  • Synopsis: Bubblegum's actions from "The Cooler" have infuriated the Fire Princess for the last time. Lives were unfortunately lost after the last incident and now both of their civilizations are on the brink of war. Will the fate of Ooo survive this impending conflict?
  • Comments: This is a darker take on the consequences of Bubblegum's attempts to neutralize the Fire Kingdom military as her actions directly leads to Flame Princess declaring war on the Candy Kingdom. The war and the actions are well written and quite realistic. Note that PB has suffered from the Ron the Death Eater syndrome (Such as torturing her hero Finn into a heartless automaton in order to create the super soldier againt FP's forces) in this fan fiction along with many references to Call of Duty (Being a war and all) so if you are either a fan of Bubblegum or you're a COD hater, this fan fiction is not for you.

Pray For The Preacher's Daughter by Arca Feretory

  • Recommended by: powerespect
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "I can be a saint if you want me to, but I will make a sinner out of you. I'm innocent outside, but I'm about to blow your mind. I'm a little good, a little bad, the best and worst you've ever had. You can see my halo or my horns, so be warned." - AU, high school. Also, a warning: This is quite possibly the slowest burning story you will ever read.
  • Pairing: Marceline/Bubblegum
  • Comments: High school AU where Bonnibel moves to a small church town and begins tutoring the preacher's daughter, Marceline. The fic moves VERY slow, but the buildup is well worth the wait.

A Life to Serve by Low Candela

  • Recommended by: Sean Devine
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: An AU work. Marceline buys Finn as a slave at a young age, not completely sure of her motivation. How will Finn's twisted psyche develop as Marceline molds him into her perfect servant? Rated M for suggestive themes (possible lemon later), and likely violence.
  • Pairing: Finn and Marceline.

The new family face many difficult challenges. There will be love, laughs, and tears. A story in which a hero will rise and help defeat a great evil in the distant future. A different Ooo will rise and take shape.
  • Pairing: Simon/Betty
  • Comments:
    • The story's fine. However, this troper found the numerous writing errors to get in the way of his enjoyment. If you can overlook some grammar and spelling mistakes you'll enjoy it though. - Sean Devine

Phlogiston Theory by Jen Kollic

  • Recommended by The Aussie Blue
  • Status: Dead Fic
  • Synopsis: "Find some way to contain her power, or I will." Famous last words for Princess Bubblegum. She should have known that Flame King would just take that as an open invitation to foist his responsibilities off onto her shoulders.
  • Comments
    • A change on the typical "X raised by Y" plot line, a well written, charming, and all together lovey story. Chapters can be short, and it's been a long time since an update.

Has a manga-like art style and features anthropomorphic designs of many character. There's also a number of fun extras, like the ask pages.
  • Comments: The best AT comic on Deviantart I've found. The art is amazing.
  • Oh, but do be sure to read the description on the first page so you know the characters relative ages, as they differ from canon. Also note that Pen was the name of the boy character in the original Adventure Time short, so that you don't end up wondering who he is. Be patient, though: updates are slow.

Adventure of legends, chapter.1 part.1

Chapter 1, Part 1: Finn's Depression
It was a simple morning as any other in the Land of Ooo. The sun was rising over the hills and mountains, starting to shine over a treefort that seemed to have various objects on it and within it, bridges, windows, doors, and boat placed on top. Inside a yellow dog was starting to wake up. He yawned, stretching as he rubbed his eyes, feeling tired. He looked around in the room which looked recently cleaned. The wooden floors and furniture seemed to be in good shape. He shook his head, thinking it didn't use to be like this. It used to be a lot more action packed, but ever since they did major damage to one of their many enemies, the Ice King, there had been no attacks anywhere.
The dog walked up to another part of the tree fort and knocked on the door to his buddy's room. "Hey, Finn! Dude! You awake?" he asked, knocking again but got no response. He sighed, knowing something wrong about his friend. "Not again, dude&#; Come on, man. I know you ain
