My sister and I have been using Sidecar health for a couple months now and everything has been going well. That was until a mysterious bug on her account has stopped the service from working correctly. She's uploaded all her bills and done everything right from her end but her account has a "bug" which has paused her account for 2 months. We've called multiple times to get it fixed but we haven't gotten a clear answer about what's wrong and how long it will take for her service to work again. She's had to cancel appointments and wait for care because of this and it seems like this problem is just not getting taken care of. She's just told that the problem will be solved, yet there's been no update. We really enjoy Sidecar health but this kind of service is just not what we expected based on the reviews of their customer service being so good. I would love to post a great review, but until this issue is solved I can't in good conscience do that.

The best customer service reps who actually care about you and your well being. As a self employed attorney and real estate agent, Sidecar has allowed me to have healthcare that is flexible and that I can afford. I also never realized how over-priced procedures and tests can be until I shopped around or when you tell the provider you are paying upfront. I recommend Sidecar to everyone I meet who says they cannot afford insurance.

Sidecar is a great company to provide…
Sidecar is a great company to provide support in your medical needs specially when your primary insurance does not cover the expense to the maximum extent or has lot of deductible. Their service is good so far. I like the multiple options they provide to use their account card for expense or using our card and then claim through apps, use the reimbursement for paying premiums or getting it through checks. I am yet to check the claim processing experience in detail and will write a detail review soon.

At first I thought this was gonna work out great for me. I was so wrong. First off, whatever card you have on file will be charged 20% of the bill when you use your Sidecar Health Card. The second thing is coming up with proper documentation, each bill you have must have provider, medical codes, and why you was seen. For myself getting the medical coding has been the most time consuming. Some of the customer service at Sidecar is great others are just terrible. I've had some go above and beyond to assist and others who don't seem to care. I do not recommend this company at all.

In order for us to process a claim for medical services, we need a final, itemized medical bill (also known as a “super bill”) that includes these pieces of information: patient name, provider name, date of service, provider location, charge amount, procedure codes (also called CPT or HCPCS codes), and diagnosis codes (also called ICD10 codes). Second Year with Sidecar
This is my second year with Sidecar Health and I am overall satisfied with their coverage and customer service.
I think they are a very good alternative to a traditional health insurance plan if you have no major medical issues.
I love Sidecar
I love Sidecar. I have met my deductible with my primary this year so now I actually make money from my appointments. They cover the big things I need - physical therapy, chiropractic (12 per year), psych visits, gyno, and pcp visits. It kinda seems to good to be true so I keep thinking they are going to change something on me, but they haven't. I locked in a 3 year rate for $3 a month so it should all stay the same for awhile. Sidecar has allowed me to get my health back and I'm so thankful to have found them.
I am not writing a review but merely asking questions of anybody that can answer. I love the concept of this “insurance” it makes sense.
My questions are the following:
*The website for Sidecar is ambiguous about reimbursement rates, do the people out there that rate sidecar highly have experience with reimbursement rates or just happy with the cost of it without having filed any claims yet thinking they have a great plan.
*It would seem that this adds a bunch of legwork on behalf of the insured making sure you get procedures coded correctly etc. Also getting itemized billing can be a challenge as well, based on my past experience having to provide this to BCBS. Anybody else experience this issue?

It is real insurance with straight forward benefits!
I have had Sidecar for about a year now. I have only had to use it 3 times now, but it was so simple and they covered the majority of my expenses. I had COVID and my Urgent Care fee was $200 even. They covered $175 of it. I had an annual wellness exam that was $400. They covered $340 of it. Then I had a visit with a Cardiologist and some tests done. That bill was around $800 and they covered $615 of it. It is legit health insurance. I have a zero deductible, $50,000 per year benefit plan and I pay $170 a month.
This health insurance system is the best. I hope next year the prices are similar so I can continue being a member! Customer service is excellent and quick to respond!

Sidecar Health provides low-cost health insurance. This is not a traditional ACA (Affordable Care Act) health insurance plan. We’ll get into those details a little further down. Sidecar Health is a new kind of insurance that leverages Cash or self-pay pricing and Sidecar Health does allow you to customize your health plan. This flexibility can make the monthly premiums considerably less than ACA health plans.
Sidecar Health coverage options range from a few hundred dollars up to $2 million. You can also adjust your deductible and other components such as adding prescription coverage. Each of these adjustments will change your monthly premium.
What is Cash Price health insurance, you may ask? After being approved for a Sidecar Health plan, you’ll receive a Sidecar Health payment card opposed to a traditional health insurance card, which is how you pay for medical services. In the eyes of your medical service providers, you're essentially viewed as a self-pay patient. Self-pay customers are often charged lower costs than hospitals and doctor's offices bill to insurance companies. Sidecar Health reimburses a fixed rate for medical services based on the average cash prices for those services in your area.
Sidecar Health uses a Benefit Amount for medical services. If your service is more than the Benefit Amount, you’ll have to pay the difference. Despite Quigley's assurances, Sidecar Health is probably best for people without pre-existing conditions and who are in good health. As a non-ACA insurance provider, it's not required to renew your policy if you develop major health issues.
Yes - you’ll pay a monthly premium and if you pick a plan that has a deductible, coverage doesn’t start until it's met. The rate that you're offered from Sidecar Health will depend on a variety of factors including your age, health, and coverage needs.
