Like most Carvers of her era, the 32 was built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam, relatively high freeboard, and very little transom deadrise. Her conservative profile masks what was once considered an unusual cabin layout. Where most convertibles have the engine room under the salon floor, in the 32 the engines are farther aft, under the cockpit sole. This allowed Carver designers to insert a spacious midcabin under the dinette, accessed from the galley, with a double berth and a large hanging locker.
