What We Do

Midlands Humane Society exists to improve the lives of animals who arrive at our doors by providing a kind touch, medical care, a warm bed and nourishing food. On any given day we often house and care for over 150 animals. Many more are taken care of in private homes, veterinary offices, Iowa Western Veterinary School, and adoption centers like Petco and PetSmart. We take in strays, owner-surrendered animals and pets involved in welfare/neglect cases. When able, we also work with a large network of rescue organizations to bring animals to us from over-crowded or under-funded shelters.

Together with Council Bluffs Animal Control, Pottawattamie County Animal Control and other partners we work to alleviate animal suffering, re-homing animals in need through well-matched adoptions and educating the public about the proper care of companion animals. We hold a variety of events and fundraising promotions throughout the year to engage the community and allow for the human/animal connection. A robust volunteer program allows hands-on work with animals at the shelter, basic cleaning and organizational tasks, and specific skills-based opportunities for special events, adoption counseling and office work.

Interesting Info

In 2020, 1615 animals were adopted into loving homes and 383 animals were reunited with owners. And, over 15,000 volunteer hours were logged!

We work with over 25 animal rescue organizations and utilize 20 foster homes to help care for animals in need.

Midlands Humane Society

All animals picked up by the Animal Control Division are taken to the Midlands Humane Society, which offers a temporary home for cats and dogs who are lost, stray, or unwanted. After a 72-hour holding period, these pets can be adopted by the public for a small fee. Ads run in the local media to display the cats and dogs available for adoption.

Staff at the Midlands Humane Society can direct you to the appropriate kennel, answer your questions, and fill out lost/found reports. The Humane Society also offers pet cremations and micro-chipping services. Micro-chipping provides an indisputable means of identifying your pet.

Donations are always accepted at the Midlands Humane Society. Another method of providing additional support to the animals is by purchasing an item from our "wish list". For more information, call (712) 396-2270 or visit the website at midlandshumanesociety.org.

Midlands Humane Society is open noon-6:00 pm Monday-Friday, 11:00 am-5:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:00 am-3:00 pm on Sunday.  Their offices are closed on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Lilly and her spokesdog Lollie

The HSoMC 2021 cat mascot is Lily, a rescued cat, owned by the Wilson Family. Judging from the photo, you may be a bit confused since Lily looks a bit like a dog!  Sweet Lily, who was adopted from Great Lakes Bay Animal Rescue in 2015 as a kitten, was a little too shy for her photo shoot.  Along came her sister Lollie, a 12.5-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix to the rescue.  Beautiful Lollie will be standing in for her sister Lily in photo form this year. Now back to Lily…The Wilson family chose to adopt her when sadly they lost the littermate to their cat Willow (HSoMC Cat Mascot 2018).  Lily was the perfect age to join their family and her and Willow have been inseparable cat siblings since then.

After adoption, the Wilson’s found out their beautiful Lily might actually be a Chantilly, which is a unique breed of cat.  They discovered this due to her distinctive “chirp” rather than a regular “meow” and also by her wonderful coat of long fur.  Lily is described as being a full-on DIVA.  She keeps her dog sister Lollie in check and the family says that Lollie is actually afraid of Lily!  She takes this diva status to a whole new level, knowing she’s pretty.  The family says she walks around the house as if she’s on an imaginary runway.  They state her coat of fur is so impressive it’s earned her the title “Princess Puffypants.”

Lily can be skittish and timid around new people but her family says this is all bravado when it’s just family nearby.  When it’s just her trusted people, Lily has no fear of anything and is a great hunter.  They also say that despite the challenges 2020 brought to most people, Lily has enjoyed having her human siblings’ home with virtual school and gets sad when they have to go back.

The Wilson family is thrilled to have Lily follow in the footsteps of her big brother Willow as the HSoMC Cat Mascot for 2021.  They look forward to spreading awareness to rescuing animals and showing support for Midland’s only animal shelter, The Humane Society of Midland County.

Insatiable ladies persuaded me to fool around with them again. Of course, there was no previous furor, but I kept my brand. In the evening I went home. Then I was not particularly interested in what happened next, except for the final result of my efforts.

Now discussing:

Her mother, left without funds, got along with an elderly rich Armenian. Once, Larka's mother left for another city to visit her sick aunt The Armenian gave the girl some sweet liquor, and when Larisa got drunk, undressed and fucked. The girl was still intact, and the Armenian took her from behind.

Larka liked it.
