6.A time bomb icon will be seen on the send button for few seconds. This represents the View once option. Tap the button to continue.
That’s it! Your disappearing photo is now ready to view. Once viewed, the photo will be deleted in the sender’s and receiver’s phone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it normal that even me can’t view the photo?
A: Unfortunately, yes! Disappearing photos cannot be viewed by the sender. You will just have an update regarding the status. If it was sent, delivered, or opened. Even if your photo was in Allow Replay mode. The only option you can have a look at the photo you sent is to put it on Keep in Chat mode.
Q: What is the effect of Allow Replay and Keep in Chat?
A: The Allow Replay gives the receiver to view the photo twice while the Keep in Chat will retain the picture on your message thread unless deleted.
Q: It seems that the choices whether View Once, Allow Replay, and Keep in Chat are missing. This happens when taking a picture first before choosing the receiver.
A: Choosing the first method will automatically send a disappearing photo. There are no other options to choose from. The other settings are only available when you use your inbox. Thus, if you want a photo to stay on your thread use the second method and choose the Keep in Chat setting.
If you’re unsure or regret what you sent, you can delete it. To do that, long press the photo and tap Unsend. However, the photo can only be viewed once and given that time; it’s hard to remember everything in the picture.

Instagram DM for business in 2021: how can you automate communication with clients to grow sales?
Tips and tricks you’ve studied in this article above are super useful if the direct inbox is used only for personal purposes. But if you aim to find clients on Instagram, you need to be responsive when they reach out to you in DMs. That’s why Direct automationand using the messenger from the desktop can significantly improve your business.
The main task of Direct for business is to convert leads into clients and solve incoming issues. For many companies, it takes hours to respond to clients in Direct. When it takes so long to hear from you, they start texting your competitors.
The following tips will help you never miss leads and solve incoming questions any time of the day – you won’t need to be present online.
4 Direct tricks for a business Instagram
- Think of a welcome message. Welcome messages can be intrusive and irritating unless you make them really useful. Don’t just write “Hi, thank you for following.” If the first message to new followers is bringing value, they will appreciate it. For example, you can provide them with exclusive short-term offers, like discounts or even free things. In the Inflact Direct Module, you can set up automated messages for every new follower – add images, links to your DMs.
- Set up auto-reactions for stories. Stories are an amazing way of interacting with the audience and gaining their attention naturally. When people reply to stories or mention your account in their stories, they expect you will notice and reply to them. But it might take time to do it manually. That’s why you need to try automated responses to stories reactions by Inflact. It’s possible to save the message that will be sent to all users who replied to a story or tagged you. It’s super convenient when you use stories to hold contests and polls.
- Provide instant client support with auto-messages. The Direct Module allows you to solve any problem and answer typical questions even if you are away from the keyboard. For example, you can set up responses based on keywords. If clients often ask you about prices in Direct, determine the keywords they use in their messages and save answers you will automatically send to them. In this case, the saved replies will be sent in 5-10 minutes after you receive such DMs. Convenient and responsive!
- Pre-plan templates for DM based on your marketing funnel. When your online business is based on a funnel or a certain strategy, you need scripts for every stage. Cold clients and loyal customers need different communication scenarios. In the Direct Module, you can label each client group and view visualized boards for every group to help you plan appropriate messaging. Also, you can track the communication history in the notes.

2 Ways to Send Disappearing Photos and Videos on Instagram
Not all Instagram messages deserve to be kept in the chats forever. Of course, you can delete the messages manually, but that’s time-consuming. That’s where the ability to send disappearing photos or videos comes into the picture. Such messages will auto-expire after the person sees it or after you close the chat window depending on the method used. We have explored two ways to send disappearing photos and videos on Instagram in this post. Do read the FAQs section at the end to clear your doubts about screenshots, saving disappearing messages, and more.
How to Send Disappearing Messages on Instagram
You can send disappearing photos and videos using Vanish mode and the Disappearing messages feature.
1. Using Disappearing Messages Feature
Instagram has had a Disappearing messages feature for a long time now. While it’s easily available in the Instagram Direct Messages (DM), the icon is slightly misleading. Remember the Camera icon in the Instagram DM? That lets you send disappearing photos and videos.
When a photo or video is sent using this method, it will disappear immediately after the other person sees it. He/she can view the photo or video only once.
Here’s how to use the Disappearing messages feature on Instagram:
1. Open the Instagram app and tap on the Messages icon at the top.
2. Here you will see the Camera icon next to the existing chat threads. Tap on the icon next to the chat where you want to send an expiring message.
Alternatively, open the chat thread of the person to whom you want to send a disappearing photo or video. Tap on the Camera icon at the bottom.
3. The Camera viewfinder will open in both methods. Capture a new photo or tap on the Gallery icon at the bottom to upload a photo or video from your phone’s gallery or Camera Roll.
4. Once you take a picture, you can edit the photo i.e., add effects, stickers, doodle, and text on it. However, what’s important to us right now are the three options at the bottom. Those are View once, Allow replay, and Keep in chat.
Now if you want to send a photo or video that gets deleted automatically after the other person sees it, make sure View once is selected. However, if you want the other person to replay the message at least once after they have seen it, tap on Allow replay. Lastly, if you don’t want to send disappearing photos or videos, select Keep in chat. In our case, you need to tap on View once.
Once such a message is sent, even you won’t be able to see it again. When you open the chat thread, you will see the Photo or Video text with a Bomb icon in the place of the disappearing message. Find out what other symbols and icons mean on Instagram.
This feature works for both individual and group chats. However, the people whom you are sending disappearing messages should be following you or have approved messages from you. If they don’t follow you or haven’t approved messages for your account, you won’t be able to send disappearing photos and videos.
Tip: You can also send disappearing messages on WhatsApp.
2. Using Vanish Mode
The above method lets you send a single disappearing photo or video on Instagram. You will need to repeat the steps if you want to send more. What if you want to make all or multiple photos and videos disappear? For that, you will need to use Instagram’s Vanish mode.
Vanish mode, as the name suggests, lets you have a temporary chat where all the messages will automatically disappear after you close the chat window and when the other person sees it. Any message that you send when Vanish mode is active will be considered a self-destructing message. So you can send multiple disappearing photos and videos using this feature.
Here are the steps to send disappearing photos and videos using Vanish mode.
1. Open the Instagram chat where you want to use Vanish mode.
2. Swipe up from the bottom in the chat until you hear a sound or vibration. Release the finger. The Vanish mode will be active in your chat. You will see that the chat window turns black.
Now send a simple text message, photo, or video and it will vanish automatically after you close the chat. To turn off the Vanish mode, swipe up again in the chat and release the finger when you hear a sound or vibration. The normal chat theme will return after Vanish mode is disabled.
Tip: In case you want to be extra careful, you can use both methods together. That is, you can send disappearing messages using the first method inside Vanish mode as well.
